Heroes Martial Arts Opened in 2009, and our Head Instructor Gumby started training Jiu Jitsu in 1996. That experience has taught us a few things about running a world class Jiu Jitsu Academy that serves our students….
We Take Our Jiu Jitsu Very Seriously….
Authentic
We carry on the tradition of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as taught by the Gracie family and we’re proud of our lineage. We’ve walked the walk before and know the journey each step of the way.
Old School
We haven’t forgotten the roots of Jiu Jitsu in Self Defense. Good basic fundamentals start off every student and carry through your entire career.
Accredited
Heroes Martial Arts has all appropriate certifications from the IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation) affording all students officially recognized ranks and privileges, including participation in IBJJF Tournaments and Events.
Modern
We keep up with the latest trends and developments in Jiu Jitsu and on the completion scene, and make sure our game is up to date and able to compete. In addition, we know our history so we are great at predicting the future.
Structured
Heroes Martial Arts’s curriculum is a great start for beginners to begin their Jiu Jitsu journey, and provides a structure and framework for students of all levels. In addition, we have a discipline and consistency in our scheduling to maximize your time learning and training.
Merit Based
You get better at Jiu Jitsu the old fashioned way at Heroes: You earn it. We don’t charge for belt promotions. We don’t even have stripes here. We’re relentless honest and while we don’t sugarcoat anything about the realities of Jiu Jitsu, we’re always ready to help you improve along your path.
Safety
We take safety seriously here with instruction which emphasizes students on how to avoid sudden and long term injuries. Equipment and surfaces are well maintained and cleaned frequently. We have basic first aid stations at each location including defibrillators.
Proven
We have been teaching Jiu Jitsu in San Jose since 2009, and we’ve taught THOUSANDS of students. We’ve brought beginners to competitors, people fully immersed in the Jiu Jitsu lifestyle, black belts and instructors.
We Believe in Having Fun…
We’ve worked very hard to foster an environment that lacks pretense and all are welcome. Jiu Jitsu studios are built on the idea of a balance between cooperation and competition. A team works together by necessity to improve each other, establishing at least a trust but more often a true camaraderie. Those relationships built on the mat often carry off the mat. From there anything is possible. Make the most of your opportunities, make friends and have fun.
